1. Parts of Speech কাকে বলে ? কত প্রকার ?

Ans. Sentence  এ  ব্যবহৃত  প্রতিটি  শব্দ  বা  word  কে  Parts of speech  বলে  । 

or, In the English Language, every word is called a Part of speech.

Parts of speech কে আট / ৮ ভাগে ভাগ করা যায় :

1. Noun ( বিশেষ্য )
2. Pronoun  ( সর্বনাম )
3. Adjective  ( বিশেষণ )
 4.Verb  ( ক্রিয়া )
5. Adverb  ( ক্রিয়া বিশেষণ )
6. Preposition  (পদান্বয়ী অব্যয় )
7.Conjunction  (সংযোজক অব্যয় )
8. Interjection  (অন্তর্ভাবমূলক অব্যয় )

Explanations :

1. Noun : 

যে  শব্দ দ্বারা  কোন  কিছুর  নাম  বোঝায় তাকে  Noun  বলে ।

A noun is a naming word. [ In English ]

Examples ( in words ) :  Rahul ,Student,City,Gold , Honesty,

Apple,Metal,London,India, Rabindranath Tagore ,Gitanjali etc.

Examples of Nouns used in sentences:

      • She bought a pair of shoes. (thing)
      • I have a pet. (animal)
      • Is this your book? (object)

2. Pronoun   : 

Noun  এর  পরিবর্তে  যে সকল  word/শব্দ ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে   Pronoun বলে  । 
[ Pro শব্দের অর্থ  পরিবর্তন বা এর সমতুল্য । সুতরাং  Pronoun শব্দের অর্থ হলো  Noun  এর পরিবর্তে বা  noun এর  সমান । ]

A pronoun is a substitute word of a noun. [ In English ]

Examples ( in words ) : He, She, It, I, We, They etc.

Examples of Pronouns used in sentences:

      • I reached home at six in the evening. (1st person singular pronoun)
      • Did someone see a red bag on the counter? (Indefinite pronoun)
      • Is this the boy who won the first prize? (Relative pronoun)
      • That is my mom. (Possessive pronoun)

3. Adjective    : 

যে  word  দ্বারা Noun  বা  Pronoun এর দোষ ,গুণ, অবস্থা,সংখ্যা, পরিমাণ, ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ পায় ,তাকে  Adjective  বলে ।

An adjective is a modifying word of a noun or noun equivalent word . [ In English ]

Examples (in words ) : Good, Many ,Tall , Red etc.

Examples of Adjectives used in sentences:

      • The place we visited yesterday was serene.
      • Did you see how big that dog was?
      • The weather is wonderful today.
      • The red dress you wore on your birthday was lovely.

4. Verb  :  

যে  word দ্বারা  কোনো কিছু কাজ করা বোঝায়, তাকে   Verb বলে ।

 Verbs are words that denote an action that is being performed by the noun or the subject in a sentence. [ In English ]

Examples ( in words ) : 

  • is, am, are, was, were [ Be Verb ]
  •  have, has, had [ Have Verb ]
  • Play , Eat ,Go ,Come , drink [ Do verb ]

Examples of Verbs used in sentences:

      • She plays cricket every day.
      • Darshana and Arul are going to the movies.
      • My friends visited me last week.

5. Adverb : 

যে word  দ্বারা  Adjective এবং Verb  এর দোষ ,গুণ, অবস্থা ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ পায় , তাকে   Adverb বলে ।

An adverb is a word that adds more information about place ,time , manner  cause or degree to a verb ,an adjective , a phrase or another Adverb . [ In English ]


Examples ( in words ) : Slowly, very , quickly , nicely etc.

Examples of Adverbs used in sentences:

      • Did you come here to buy an umbrella? (Adverb of place)
      • I did not go to school yesterday as I was sick. (Adverb of time)
      • Savio reads the newspaper everyday. (Adverb of frequency)
      • Can you please come quickly? (Adverb of manner)

6. Preposition :  

যে  word  কোনো  Noun  বা  Pronoun  এর পূর্বে বসে এবং সেই Noun  বা  Pronoun  এর সঙ্গে  -- Sentence  -এর  অন্তর্গত  অপর  কোনো  word  এর সম্পর্ক প্রকাশ করে ,তাকে  Preposition  বলে ।

A preposition is a relation making word . [ In English ]


Examples ( in words ) : With , to ,for , by , off , in ,at ,Who ,whom ,what ,which ,whose ,either ,neither ,each ,every, so, much , those , none ,each other ,one another ,such ,this ,that ,these etc.

Examples of Prepositions used in sentences:

      • Sit on the chair.
      • The child hid his birthday presents under his bed.
      • Mom asked me to go to the store near my school.

7. Conjunction   : 

যে  word  দুই বা ততোধিক  word  বা  clause এর মধ্যে সংযোগ স্থাপন করে , তাকে Conjunction বলে । 

A conjunction is a joining word  of two word ,phrases , clauses and also sentence . [In English ]

Examples ( in words ) : And ,But , Or  etc .

Examples of Conjunctions used in sentences:

      • Meera and Rani had come to my birthday party.
      • Jane did not go to work as she was sick.
      • Unless you work hard, you cannot score good marks.
      • I have not finished my project, yet I went out with my friends.

8. Interjection : 

যে  word মনে আকস্মিক ভাবাবেগ প্রকাশ করে , তাকে   Interjection  বলে ।

An interjection is an expression  making word . [ In English ]

Examples ( in words ) : Oh, Wow, Alas,Yippee, Hurrah etc.

Examples of interjections used in sentences:

      • Wow! What a wonderful work of art.
      • Alas! That is really sad.
      • Yippee! We won the match.
      • Oh! I forgot to turn off the stove.
